Born in Richmond, Virginia, and now residing in San Francisco, California, Zulu Heru is a multifaceted artist renowned for his multimedia Afrocentric sculptures crafted from discarded materials. A U.S. Army veteran, Howard University alum and Operating engineer, Zulu combines his diverse experiences with his engineering background to create art that tells powerful stories of heritage and survival.
“I Am a Sculptor that specializes in creating African mask. Primarily in the medium of metal and stone. My work represents the cultural heritage of my ancestry. My studio is located in Bayview – Hunters point. I aim highlight the brilliance and resiliency of the black community. And to telling the stories of local heroes through powerful works of public art.”
